eZ publish Enterprise Components
eZ systems recently announced the development of eZ publish Enterprise Components, a high quality framework for development of large scale web applications. The Components will be extracted from eZ publish during migration to the new version 4.0 (which also includes the migration of eZ publish itself to PHP5) and will afterwards be available as an own open source product under the LGPL. The distribution of eZ publish Enterprise Components will be done through a PEAR channel server and therefore utilizing the PEAR Installer.
Leaving Norway again...
Sadly I'll leave the eZ Systems headquarters in Norway tomorrow direction Dortmund again. It really was an amazing time for me in all aspects: Work, people, country and whatever else matters.
Comfortable PHP editing with VIM -4-
It's nearly 4 month ago now, since I last blogged about my .vimrc (the main Vim config file) and the recent enhancements I added to it. This time, I go a step further as in the last 3 parts: I wrote my first own Vim script. :) Beside that there are as usual some other great enhancements and tips I collected over the past 4 month and I already have an idea of how to proceed and what I need more. But first, I'd like to give a brief changelog between version 1.3 and the last version:
I just realized that I missed to show some examples for my phpDocumentor for Vim plugin. So, here they are:
More 3D fun with PHP
Kore Nordmann today had his first talk at a PHP Conference (here in Frankfurt) and presented his first PEAR class Image_3D. Kore fixed lots of stuff in the past weeks and added lots of funny things (like a ASCII art driver for producing 3D animations on the shell, new objects like torus and cone,...), which we released yesterday.
A joyride to eZ Components beta2
About a month ago it's been the time, where we were about to release the first beta version of the eZ components, the new - new BSD licensed - enterprise open source library. A bit under stress (as usual, who doesn't know) we brought out beta 1, missing some refactoring and unification work, testing and documentation improvements.
eZ Components workshop in Dortmund - Germany
As Derick already wrote, we release the first RC of our new product eZ components yesterday. Beside the unification of the API, we enhanced several components with additional features and refactored smaller parts here and there since Beta2. I feel highly satisfied about how our work evolved in the past 6 month.
We go stable: eZ components 1.0
2 weeks after our release candidate, I am very proud that we released eZ components 1.0 today.
eZ Components talk at PHP usergroup Frankfurt
I'll be giving an overview on the eZ components at the PHP usergroup Frankfurt meeting on March 16th. If you want to get a life introduction, have questions or want to give feedback, feel invited to join this event!
Why towel day was in May 25th?
As you might remember, I blogged a few days ago, that you shouldn't forget your towel for yesterday, Towelday. This tribute to Douglas Adams (one of the most skilled science fiction authors in my eyes) was quite a funny thing, since people looked quite strange, when I walked around with a nice blue (not really authentic, AFAIR the original one was white) towel.
FrOSCon PHP room - Last chance for papers
As Kore already mentioned, the call for papers for the PHP room at the FrOSCon is running out. So take your heels and propose now!
1 year with eZ Systems
Yesterday way my first anniversary with eZ systems. Exactly 1 year and 1 day ago I signed my contract and started working for our German eZ branch. While being first employed as a freelancer (for my own wish) I soon started to work exclusively for eZ, when I came to the eZ components project at the end of July last year. Sure, I'm also doing some stuff beside (or better: in cooperation with) my work at eZ systems, but the company has evolved to my absolute primary employer.
