Yesterday I watched the movie "Absolute Giganten", which Thies recommended to me. He adores this movie and told me pretty cool stuff on it on Linuxtag. Also I'm not so crazy about it as he is, I must admit, it's really worth watching.
Lukas stepping back
Lukas Smith (until today member of the PEAR group and the PEAR QA core team) has stepped back from all of his positions in PEAR, except being a normal developer.
Conferences to come
Now, since the summer slump is nearly over, there are more technology conferences to come. As there are for me:
I finally managed to watch Fahrenheit 9/11 in cinema. It's been a very splitted experience. On the one hand Michael Moore manages to emazingly show some backgrounds on the happenings since George W. Bush's "election". On the other one it's horrible to see how they brought people the fear, how they attacted innocent people and how they convinced thei own folks to join the army...
Goto for PHP: Heaven or hell?
Reading all those mails from the past weeks, I stumbled over several dealing with a patch for PHP provided by Sara Goleman, which provides "goto" statements for PHP. There seem to be a lot of different opinions on that topic, in my eyes mainly depending on the code camp the specific person comes from. I wanna pick up some of the statements I found against goto and comment on them.
Saturday night I could not resist doing some code stuff. Although time is rare currently, I managed to work a little bit on PEPr and made the following changes were made:
I fully agree with Sebastian who wrote in "On Blogs, Portals and Conference Websites" about something which I would count to the category "semantic web". Linux World Expo
I think most of you saw it, but since today the "Linux World Conference and Expo" is opened in Frankfurt. Stefan Neufeind, Aaron Wormus and me are available at the PEAR exhibition booth. Hope to see some of you there. I'll be available tomorrow and Thursday from about 4pm CET.
Happy birthday PEAR! PEAR is turning 5.
If one takes Malin Bakken's (to whome PEAR is dedicated) birthday as the beginning of PEAR, today is Malin's and PEAR's 5th birthday. The first bit of code for PEAR was commited 1 day later, so this is a reasonable approximation in my eyes for the birth of PEAR.
