Sadly the date for this event was been moved several times, mainly because of my rare time in the past weeks (thanks guys!). But now the time has come: - Fighting trackback spam on PEARWeb Trackback spammers only needed a couple of weeks to discover PEARWeb's new trackback feature for their purposes. Of course I had to do something against that, which sadly lasted very long because I've been much too busy. Last week I finally managed to release Services_Trackback 0.5.0 and migrated the PEARWeb code to the new version. Until now, trackback spam seems to be stopped. Ususally there was a huge number new spam trackbacks on PEARWeb per day, since last Tuesday there was not even 1. - Finally: Services_Trackback 0.5.0 I finally managed to upload the next release of Services_Trackback (which is a generic class for sending and receiving trackbacks). The most important new feature for this version is integrated spam checking. Services_Trackback now implements a flexible API to add spam detection modules to a trackback using - XML and Webservices in PHP5.0/5.1, PECL and PEAR I recently uploaded the slides from our workshop yesterday (XML and Webservices in PHP5.0/5.1, PECL and PEAR). The package includes all of our slides (253) and the examples used in the slides as complete source code. The download will be also linked in the support section of PEARWeb. - PHPUGDO - Different presentations Yesterday evening was the second meeting I attended of the PHP user group Dortmund. Sadly we've only been 5 people, although there are currently 12 members on the mailinglist. Since we wanna start some kind of useful project with the group members (what project this will be is not ready for the public, yet) and have a huge variaty of states of knowledge in the group, we decided to have an educational session in our next meeting. All of the 5 attendants from yesterday took a topic to prepare a little presentation (30-45 minutes) for the next meeting (in 2 weeks, 5th of May). - This really is a scandal Take this as compassion to Davey and his friends and as a first try getting links together for his blog entry to get a better page rank. - A look at package2.xml and how to create a PEAR 1.4 package. I recently gave an overview on what will be new in PEAR 1.4, this time I'd like to start publishing some more detailed info on PEAR 1.4 news. Today's topic is package.xml version 2 and how to create a PEAR 1.4 package. - PEAR::Services_Delicious Today Stephan Schmidt threw the first public release of his new PEAR package Services_Delicious, which allows to communicate with del.isio.us through PHP pretty easily. His announcement shows a pretty little example. Since I'm currently on a del.icio.us trip (I recently migrated all of my bookmarks there), I like that thing pretty much, also I did not come to try it out, yet. - The hell on earth... It's really horrible. I moved my home last weekend from Schwalbach to Darmstadt and calculated to be offline for about 1 or 2 days. Indeed, I've been more or less offline for 1 week now, because of some technical issues in my new home. - Debian rulez (about Widescreen and RSS) After my (not too ;) long vacation it felt great to run "apt-get update" and "apt-get dist-upgrade" on my notebook. And indeed, it's been worth it.
