I held my PEAR workshop before noon, and indeed, it went really well. People were highly interested in the project and our packages and the conversation situation was quite good. The slides and examples are available here or in a couple of minutes from the PEARWeb support section. - Charge for Linuxtag entrance The Linuxtag e.V. recently announced that for this years Linuxtag a charge will be have to paid for entrance. One day will cost 15,- €, 2 days 25,- € and all 3 days 35,- €. Members of the open source community should be granted free entrance, in the way, that the exhibiting projects will receive a certain amount of free tickets. The organizers of Linuxtag explain their decision for an entrance charge inside an open letter (German) to the open source community. - 2nd day in Quebec Today was my second day in Quebec, more exactly in Montreal. After I woke up at about 7:00 a.m. (which is pretty late, if you take into account, that this is 2:00 p.m. at home) I started working on my slides again, because the weather seemed still not very good (better than yesterday, of course). When I finished that (around 11:00), the weather had changed drastically... It really was marvelous! I just wanted to go out to get some food and see some of the downtown, when Damien called me and told me that he needed a speakers room to store the conference equipment in and asked me if it would be ok, when I changed the room (to one having a safe). I agreed and switche... to a room on the 23rd floor... ;) You can see both differences (weather and room) below: - Canada - First impressions As promised, I start writing a bit about my Canada trip to the PHP Quebec Conference 2005. - On the way to Canada Currently I'm standing in front of a very uncomfortable web-terminal at Frankfurt a.M. (Germany) airport, simply to blog that I'm on my way to PHP Quebec Conference. I recently arrived in Frankfurt (from where near I recently moved my home away) from Düsseldorf and now have to wait for 2 more hours to get my connection flight to Montreal. - Going to Amsterdam I recently got notified to be speaker at the International PHP Conference in Amsterdam this year. I'll have a powerworkshop ("XML and Web services with PHP5 and PEAR", in cooperation with Stephan Schmidt) this year and a normal session (PEAR and PHP5). See the abstracts below: - Going to Quebec I recently received the acception for my proposal for the PHP Conference Quebec 2005. I will give a double session (some kind of workshop) on PEAR and how to use it. I'm very sold to be part of that conference, since I've never been to Kanada before. :) - Call for papers: Linuxtag 2005 As usual, the Linuxtag in Karlsruhe, Germany, will take place in June next year (22nd - 25th). This time, it's the anniversary 10th Linuxtag. Since yesterday Linuxtag expects talk proposals from open source developers on topics around the free operating system and other open source projects. Until now the call-for-papers website is German ony, which will change in the near future, I guess. - More photos from the PHP Conference I added some more photos from the PHP Conference in Frankfurt to my gallery. Thanks to Nico Edtinger. - Back from the PHP Conference Yeah, I guess I was the one with the shortest way home, today. After bringing Lukas, Marcus, Hartmut and Aaron to the airport, it took me about 15 minutes to get home (because of some after-work traffic on the highway). ;)
