I recently uploaded my slides from my presentation on Linuxtag 2005 yesterday. The talk was named "News from PEAR" and gives an overview on how PEAR evolved in the last couple of month. Beside the talk slides I also included the written 10 pages elaboration which is required for applying for a Linuxtag talk and some more examples I was not able to show during the talk. I had much problems getting my X.org running with the native Nvidia driver in all distributions I tested... Now, that I got serious problems with the beamers at Linuxtag I went to the X.org booth here and asks the guys for help. Mathias Hopf directly offered to take a look at my xorg.conf and fixed all of my problems within minutes. I will put my experiences and the xorg.conf online, when I'm back from Karlsruhe. And to mention it explicitly again: THANK YOU VERY MUCH, MATTHIAS! [Read full post…]

As promised a while ago we'll have a bunch of presentations during the next PHP usergroup meeting in Dortmund. Sadly the date for this event was been moved several times, mainly because of my rare time in the past weeks (thanks guys!). But now the time has come: [Read full post…]
The International PHP Conference 2005 Spring Edition in Amsterdam ended on Wednesday. As usual, it's been a great PHP event and meeting all those community members was really cool again. Sadly I had to leave on Wednesday noon, because of a meeting on Wednesday afternoon. [Read full post…]
This morning (at the horrible time of 8:00 a.m.) I talked about "What's new in PEAR" at the International PHP Conference Spring Edition in Amsterdam. While preparing for the talk yesterday, I more or less completly switched the topic from "PEAR and PHP5" to "News from PEAR" and the greatest amount of slides contained stuff that's new in PEAR but not necessarily related to PHP5 (although I still had some PHP5 stuff in there). The topics I covered were: [Read full post…]

Yippieh! Just in time for the International PHP Conference 2005 Spring Edition, which will take place from Monday to Wendsday next week in Amsterdam (RAI Conference Center), the *merchandising ballpens* I ordered arrived``*``. Indeed, they are really really cool (much cooler than on this really bad photo).... [Read full post…]
Yesterday evening was the second meeting I attended of the PHP user group Dortmund. Sadly we've only been 5 people, although there are currently 12 members on the mailinglist. Since we wanna start some kind of useful project with the group members (what project this will be is not ready for the public, yet) and have a huge variaty of states of knowledge in the group, we decided to have an educational session in our next meeting. All of the 5 attendants from yesterday took a topic to prepare a little presentation (30-45 minutes) for the next meeting (in 2 weeks, 5th of May). [Read full post…]
Yesterday was the last day of the PHP Conference Quebec 2005. Luckily, I will stay until sunday and therefore I had the chance to take part in some exciting events organized by the PHP Quebec people. The main conference was pretty much as every other one. It mainly consisted of hacking some stuff, talking to all those speakers and attendants and of course of holding my second session. So, business as usual, of course. [Read full post…]
