And, of course, because I can write it in my favorite text editor. We use LaTeX especially for presentation slides at Qafoo, since the beamer package provides such a convenient environment. Combined with listings package, presenting source code snippets with nice syntax highlighting has never been easier. However, there was one problem we did not solve, yet, until some days ago: Highlighting certain source code lines of a listing on different slides. - FrOSCon 2010 slides online I uploaded my slides about the Apache Zeta Document component to Slideshare. The talk was held yesterday in the PHP room at FrOSCon. - We want your talks: PHP@FrOSCon 2010 This years FrOSCon (Free and Open Source Conference) will be the fifth instance of this amazing event. As usual, the PHP Usergroup Dortmund, in cooperation with people from Cologne, organizes a PHP room with talks and hacking. If you've never been to FrOSCon, you should really seize the chance. If you have been to FrOSCon, yet, you know what you would be missing! :)The call for papers for the PHP room is still open until May 23rd, so take your heels and propose some interesting talks for the PHP room. - IPC 2009 - slides and more The IPC 2009 was amazing, even if it's still running while I write this blurb. Find my slides in this article, as well as a small resume of the conf. Thanks for the great event! - PHP BBQ Tour 2009 - Dortmund On Friday, June 19th 2009, the PHP Barbecue Tour 2009 will visit Dortmund. The idea behind PHP BBQ is to bring PHP usergroups from the seminar room to the grill. We'll have special guests from the PHP/MySQL community attending and will have a great evening with lots of dead animals. If you want to join, don't hesitate, it's free! Just bring your own food and drinks. - Evil WebDAV, XML and XPath at IPC SE 2009 I gave 2 sessions at this years IPC SE: A half-day workshop on XML with PHP, with special focus on XPath. And "WebDAV - the good, the bad and the evil", where I dug into the WebDAV protocol and the pitfalls of implementing a WebDAV server. Find and browse the slides directly online, here. - PHP@FrOSCon 2009 - Call for papers As usual, the PHP Usergroup Dortmund will maintain a PHP@FrOSCon event at this years Free and Open Source Conference in St. Augustin (near Bonn), Germany. While we created an (amazing) sub-conference for PHP there last year, we will have a project room this year. However, we want to have some great talks in there again (as we had 2 and 3 years ago) and therefore need your help as a speaker! - IPC 2008 wrapup and slides The annual family party (aka International PHP Conference) took place a week ago. As usual I enjoyed it much, although I was a bit sick this year. The new location (the "Rheingoldhalle" in Mainz) is really great, but I had the feeling it was a little bit too large. Professional equipment was available and they had 4 large rooms, as well as some smaller ones, for talks. Even the food was very good, which was not the case for the past 2 years in Mörfelden (Frankfurt). - Status update and IPC So, finally I'm blogging again. I was quite busy with learning for my university exams in the past weeks, which turned out to be a good idea and was honored with best marks for both of them: "Logic based commonsense reasoning" and "Knowledge discovery in databases" (aka datamining). But that part would fit more into a private blog. - FrOSCon 2008: Review of a marvelous conference To make it short: FrOSCon 2008 was as expected - fantastic. :)
