That was fast! New Planet PHP logo arrived! Colin Viebrock, the designer of php.net made an amazing new logo for Planet PHP. His first draft corresponded nearly exactly to my own idea of a new, cool logo. 2 drafts later the new logo was finished. Extremely cool and extremely fast. Like the whole design, it's plain and really nice looking. - Image_Text 0.5.0 (beta) I recently rolled release 0.5.0 (beta stadium) of Image_Text (your tool for comfortable handling of GD texts). This release does not add any new features, nor fixes any bug, since there did not occur any. - Fight against spam Finally I managed to bring my server up to dat regarding spam and antivirus facilities. - Link on php.net Recently Planet PHP got linked on php.net. Thanks to Gabor Hojtsy for that! - Weapons of mass destruction Just enter these words into Google and hit "I'm Feeling Lucky". ;) - PHP april fools... 1st of April 2004 get's to it's end and I guess it's time, to summarize the recent April fools a bit. Not that I think anyone in the world believes in them, but some were quite funny: - IBM takes over Zend As IBM and Zend announced in the early morning hours, both signed a buyout contract yesterday. Irving Wladawsky-Berger (IBM vicepresident of technology and strategy): "We are now taking the consequences of Sun's behavior to leave Java closed source. The power of open source has been proven by years now if Sun is to narrow-minded to see the importance of open source, we have to select another partner.". - Planet PHP linked on PEARweb Planet PHP recently got a link on PEARweb. - Zend PEAR weekly news in german I offered to Jan Lehnardt to support him in writing the PEAR Weekly News column on Zend. He didn't decline my offer and so, I will translate the news section weekly into german. Find the first issue translated here. - OOO 1.1.1 Yes, you read right. OpenOffice.org version 1.1.1 is out. With a huge bunch of bug fixes and some cool new features (e.g. "," instead of "." as the decimal char... whoever that needs! ;) ) I will definitly install that this evening.
