Hopefully not the bad part. ;) - PEAR 1.4 at the horizon Especially Greg Beaver and of course many others have done a great job and the implementation of PEAR 1.4 will possibly reach a new milestone by the end of this week 1. Of course this version of the PEAR core brings a huge lot of new features. - Net_FTP 1.3.0 stable I recently release Net_FTP 1.3.0 stable. After 2 RCs and just one little bug for RC2 within a month I decided to go stable with Net_FTP 1.3. Because of this there were just some minor changes to the files (e.g. updating documentation regarding PEARs new docblock standard) and a major addition, the package.xml version 2. - heise.de down Since this morning the webserver on heise.de seems to be down. This is very uncommon, since heise is the most popular IT news page overall and is usually used by a lot of computer specialists for internet connection tests, because of it's rare downtime. Of course, this can be done the moment, too, because the host heise.de seems to be up. Non the less, I really miss the news. - Going to Amsterdam I recently got notified to be speaker at the International PHP Conference in Amsterdam this year. I'll have a powerworkshop ("XML and Web services with PHP5 and PEAR", in cooperation with Stephan Schmidt) this year and a normal session (PEAR and PHP5). See the abstracts below: - Call for protest: Against software patents -2- I recently updated my anti software patents demo page (see here) in respect to the newest incidents. - Going to Quebec I recently received the acception for my proposal for the PHP Conference Quebec 2005. I will give a double session (some kind of workshop) on PEAR and how to use it. I'm very sold to be part of that conference, since I've never been to Kanada before. :) - Trackbacks on PEARWeb Inspired by a blog entry of Sebastian Bergmann, I implemented trackbacks for PEAR packages on PEARWeb. - The future of PEAR::Net_FTP(2) PEAR::Net_FTP was initially planned as a simple object oriented wrapper to the native PHP FTP functions, with some additional features. This goal has been reached more or less since the first stable release on 2003-07-15. The upcoming version 1.3 (RC2 actual) implements the following features: - Happy new year! To all you PHP lovers and all you other geeks out there! :)
