Find my slides in this article, as well as a small resume of the conf. Thanks for the great event! The International PHP Conference 2009 is about to finish today and I'm listening to Bastians talk about *Debugging PHP with Xdebug in Eclipse PDT*. Time to upload the slides from the XML tutorials I held together with Arne Blankerts and to sum up this amazing conference. First of all, kudos to the people from Software & Support, this PHP Conference was really amazing. I had the feeling from the last few instances of this conference, that it slowly becomes boring, but this time the event was as cool as I remember it from the first instances I attended. Btw., it was my 12th IPC this time, while I was there as a speaker 11 times. The hotel was really cool this time, just 5 meters away from the venue, having excellent breakfast and a very good sauna and spa area. I was already familiar with the venue itself, since the IPC Spring Edition took place here last year. It's a quite good conference center and this time even the food was good, mostly. ;) The speaker dinner was much better than last years, where it was mostly a stand-up reception with some finger food: This time we went to a brewery, where we had excellent food and beer. It was really cosy and I had lots of nice and interesting discussions. Beside the comfortability aspects, I really learned a lot of cool news stuff this IPC, met lots of interesting people and had almost constantly fantastic discussions. The following topics made it to my TODO list for the next weeks, if I finally find time to do something beside university and work: - `Mahout`__ - Maschine learning on `Hadoop`__ - `Gearman`__ - A jobserver written in C - `Eclipse PDT`__ integration with `Xdebug`__ and `Eclim`__ - `ext_dbus`__ .. __: http://lucene.apache.org/mahout/ .. __: http://hadoop.apache.org/ .. __: http://gearman.org/ .. __: http://eclipse.org/downloads/packages/eclipse-php-developers/galileosr1 .. __: http://xdebug.org .. __: http://eclim.org/ .. __: http://pecl.php.net/package/DBus Beside the part of the conference which was interesting to me, I seized the chance to share a bit of my knowledge in terms of XML processing with PHP. The original plan by Arne and me was to have a full-day workshop about advanced XML with PHP, but we needed to split that up into a half-day workshop and two dedicated sessions. Since we realized these in a very interactive way with much live coding, the slides are quite thin. But anyway, maybe they are still useful for someone: ------------------------- Professional XML with PHP ------------------------- .. image:: http://static.slidesharecdn.com/swf/ssplayer2.swf?doc=xmlpresentation-091115102341-phpapp02&rel=0&stripped_title=professional-xml-with-php&.swf :height: 355 :width: 425 :align: center If you attended this session, please `rate it`__. .. __: http://joind.in/1041 ------------------------- XPath - A practical guide ------------------------- .. image:: http://static.slidesharecdn.com/swf/ssplayer2.swf?doc=xpathpresentation-091118035252-phpapp01&rel=0&stripped_title=xpath-a-practical-guide&.swf :height: 355 :width: 425 :align: center If you attended this session, please `rate it`__. .. __: http://joind.in/1042 ---------------------------------- Validating XML - Avoiding the pain ---------------------------------- .. image:: http://static.slidesharecdn.com/swf/ssplayer2.swf?doc=validatingpresentation-091118040509-phpapp01&rel=0&stripped_title=validating-xml-avoiding-the-pain&.swf :height: 355 :width: 425 :align: center If you attended this session, please `rate it`__. .. __: http://joind.in/1043 As usual, there was also lots of beer and party, but that's a different story. Thanks to everyone for an amazing time. 'til next time… ..
