KDE was reasonibly slower. It had some ugly graphic errors (antialiasing and stuff) and not so much cool zooming (nautilus) and transparency features. :)

okay, that hits. Meanwhile I'm using blackbox as wm because KDE was hungry for resources... gnome neither way.
