  Yesterday way my first anniversary with eZ systems. Exactly 1 year and 1 day ago I signed my contract and started working for our German eZ branch. While being first employed as a freelancer (for my own wish) I soon started to work exclusively for eZ, when I came to the eZ components project at the end of July last year. Sure, I'm also doing some stuff beside (or better: in cooperation with) my work at eZ systems, but the company has evolved to my absolute primary employer. [Read full post…]

• Successful online session (en)

  I just finished my online session about our enterprise PHP 5 library eZ components, which was sponsored by dynamic-webpages.de and eZ systems. The talk went really good and more than 20 attendees followed my words around the general design of enterprise eZ components and my source code browsing session through our Gallery example application. • Summer in south italy (en)

  Yesterday I arrived here in Bari for the phpDay event (I will give an introductional talk about our PHP 5 library eZ components, soon). The trip was quite long, because I had to go to Milano first and then had another flight to Bari, but with about 4 hrs waiting in Milano. Anyway, I'm here now. After a fantastic dinner last night (man, _real_ italian food is soooooo delicious!) we have perfect weather here, today (32C and beautiful blue sky). A real pita that I forgot my digicam at home... But Fullo (one of the organizers of phpDay) is luckily taking photos... So, of to my session now. Greetings to rainy Germany and rainy Norway! ;-P [Read full post…]

  We finally got a tutorial about eZ components online. I wrote a little example application for that, which realizes a very basic image gallery on basis of the eZ components. It explains how to use a lot of our components in the real world, like Database, PersistentObject, ImageConversion, and some more. You can directly view it online and download it's source code here. • eZ Components 1.1 on the horizon (en)

  Yesterday we released eZ components version 1.1beta1, a first step to the next feature release of eZ components. The first release does not contain all enhancements, yet, so a 2nd beta will definitely follow. Beside that, the Template engine will be released in about a week, which is IMHO the most awaited component for 1.1. Several great enhancements are already included in 1.1beta1, like sub-select and multi-join support for the query builder in our Database component, parsing mails with the Mail component and automatic help text generation for the ConsoleTools. We also have 2 new components: File - which will provide convenience methods for dealing with files in PHP - and SystemInformation, which can be used to determine information about the underlying system, an application gets installed on.   My local PHP usergroup convinced me to repeat the eZ components introduction I gave in Frankfurt a wile ago. The session will take place on Thursday, April the 20th in the office of eZ systems GmbH. Start is 18:00 and it will take about 2-3 hrs. After that, you can ask questions, make me show more examples, try out eZ components and much more. Everyone is welcome to join us. The entrance is free.   As I already announced before, I will be giving a talk about eZ components at the PHP Usergroup FFM meeting upcoming Thursday. I will first present some background information on our architecture, the goals, the design and the possibilities with eZ components. After that, I plan to show a little example application which is build upon the library to let people see how it works.
