Read more...Raucher sind nicht unbedingt die beliebtesten Menschen. Außer wenn man unter Rauchern ist, versteht sich. Das ist auch kaum verwunderlich, denn der Raucher schadet nicht nur sich erwiesener Maßen mit seinem Qualm, sondern auch den Menschen in seiner Umgebung. Daneben stinkt Rauch auch noch und das muss selbst der Raucher zugeben. Spätestens am Morgen nach einer durch gequalmten Nacht mag selbst ein Raucher seine Sachen vom Vorabend nicht mehr riechen. Solche Nächte werden einem Raucher, Nichtraucherschutz sei Dank, in letzter Zeit auch immer weniger gegönnt.Da fragt man sich, ob für die geplagten Raucher nicht eine Alternative besteht. Klar, "Aufhören!", ruft gleich der Nichtraucher. Doch wer schon mal abhängig von Nikotin war, der weiß, das ist leichter gesagt als getan. Wer schon mal versucht hat den täglichen Kaffee-Konsum auszusetzen, kann es sich vielleicht vorstellen. Nur 100 mal schlimmer. Außerdem gilt für's Rauchen wie für's Kaffee trinken: Es macht ja auch Spaß! Leben wir also in einer hoch-technisierten Welt und haben keine Lösung für das Raucher-Problem? Eventuell doch, es heißt E-Zigarette.
Read more...The Apache Zeta Components project is currently discussing how to adjust the old eZ Components release process to the ASF guidelines. During this discussions, quite some ideas came up on how the process could be optimized. This brought my interest to how users of PHP libraries would actually like to obtain library code for their projects. I will publish the raw results of the survey later, so all of the PHP libraries and frameworks can benefit. So please take some minutes and fill out the form!

Read more...I love LaTeX for any kind of text writing (actually typesetting), simply because it creates so nice looking and consistent layouts. And, of course, because I can write it in my favorite text editor. We use LaTeX especially for presentation slides at Qafoo, since the beamer package provides such a convenient environment. Combined with listings package, presenting source code snippets with nice syntax highlighting has never been easier. However, there was one problem we did not solve, yet, until some days ago: Highlighting certain source code lines of a listing on different slides.
